Worn is a band with substance. The band was started in the Fall of 2001 by Nathan Cook and Seth Beals. They made their legendary gigs doing unplugged acoustic jam sessions all over the Grand Rapids, MI area. Although they were once renowned all over Calvin College for their brilliant song writing, their recording days are over. This site is but a legacy of their harmonic riffs and tear-jerking melodies. So please enjoy, as the Worn music lives on. Topic: worn

This is my second attempt to make music for dancing. The voice sample, I wrote and had a character recognition program "read" so that it sounds like someone called the bank to get their bank balance. I promise I do NOT have 800 and some odd million dollars in the bank! I don't even have that many pennies. Anyway, I'd have to open the Renoise file to see how I even came up with most of these sounds. I don't remember. For additional production information and other queries, you can find... This is an outrageously tasty piece of work that is designed to sound to your ears the way Sour Brites taste to your mouth. It starts out with a beat that sounds like someone falling down the stairs and gets more and more fun as it progresses. Unlike most of my other music, which is electronica and experimental in nature, this is a traditional piece I envision for a quartet. I "recorded" it in Renoise 2.0 using several synth VSTs. This edited version only differs from my original creation is that I have deleted the artificial crowd noises and other simulated "live" performance elements. The original subtitle for this piece is (Recorded LIVE from My Very Own Network Television Christmas Special That Goes On in My... Topics: Christmas, fantasy, synthesizer, WoRN808, Renoise 2.0

This is one of my very first attempts to make dance music when I first installed Renoise and some other software on my laptop in the fall of 2008. It's one of the few times I've used prefab free samples. (The drum beats and bass riffs came free with Computer Music Magazine). Since then, I like to make my own wacky sounds to use. Anyway, the bass and drums is just the backdrop for the spacey howling sounds that are happening all over this track. Those sounds I made using AudioPaint which is a... With the pace of life as it is today, together with its many associated pressures, we can so easily feel run down, stressed out and find ourselves in a position of being weary and spiritually dry. I started out trying to make a cover version of one of my all time favorite oldies tunes, Down in the Boondocks (I think it was sung by Lynn Anderson). I got as far as getting the basic rhythm done, but got lost in the process and wowweee ended up with a really rich and yummy rhythm bed instead. So I went with it and added a heavily gated atmospheric synth pad for some background and then used another synth pad as a lead sound to move it all along. It's pretty trippy, mysterious, atmospheric... Topics: Wayne Robert Nagy, Worn808, Renoise 2.0, VSTi, atmospheric, pads
I'll have to fill in the details later. This is a fairly new agey piece that is based on a very simple musical premise. It's about how we as humans influence others and are influenced by other via our limbic systems. It is why we can become calm and serene around others who are calm and serene and why when some develop a limbic system conducive to calm, they can calm others just with their presence. I wouldn't believe it hadn't I experienced it myself. For liner notes and additional permissions... I'm really not sure what it is. I wanted to capture something about being in the swimming pool at night with the moon and clouds overhead. Something about the junk of the day floating away and being refreshed and re-energized in the water. Alongside that I've been really into this little $1.99 keychain with green LED light I got the other day at Walgreen. Another laid back atmospheric piece. Not much in the way of intentional structure. Like the previous piece, "A Crack In Denial' the... Weird sci-fi dance groove with a head banging middle and then keeps going with a couple handfuls of delicious random sounds tossed in. An excellent way to scrub away bad tunes (like the excerpt from "Who's That Lady" that's used in the Swiffer commerical) that have been stuck in your head all day. Give it a go! SO HAPPY! SO PEACEFUL! I took a pretty generic reggae phrase and just worked it over with a tinkly sound so it overall sounds like a lullabye. Then gave it the trippy Wayne treatment. Also added a synth sound that might remind you all of a certain guitarist's tape delay technique. There is also a whooshing sound that I created by inserting a picture into Nicolas Fournel's AudioPaint program. The second time it appears, you might be tempted to think the song is over, but just wait, because the... This is a collage of several field recordings of quite varied environments from crickets in the country to sleigh bells to manufacturing plants to construction sites to creaking boards on boats. (I got these at soundsnap.com before they started charging a fee). To weave the sounds together, I played some treated electric piano and added delay in a pseudo dub style. This is an adaptation of a response by the congregation in the Orthodox Church to most petitions. The main theme of this piece is the bass part of the response "Lord, have mercy," which is literally sung dozens of times in a typical Orthodox service, particularly in response to the numerous litanies. The particular setting that this was extracted from is Russian, but I don't recall at the moment which specific form. Hopefully our choir director will help me with the details. I just... This is pretty much what it says it is. It was October which is my favorite month of the year, even here in the South (though it lacks a little in the orange blaze of color). Sun was nice, sky was blue with puffy white clouds (al a The Simpsons) and it was pleasantly cool. I was remembering the beautiful autumn colors of Pennsylvania. I wanted to make something nice that would capture the feeling for me and allow me to 'get back there' any time of the year. The instrumentation is pretty... This is a remix of the Nine Inch Nails song that I made on March 1, 2009. The original open source files were found at NINRemixes.com. After downloading the source files, I then spent a few days working in Renoise 1.9 to muck up some of Trent Reznor's original files using various VST effects. Then I spent some more time making other sounds that I thought would go well with the song and recording a few beats all in Renoise. Having done that, I then dumped everything into Ableton Live 7 and,... Topics: Renoise, NIN, open source, Worn808, remix, laptop, Ableton Live, VST, techno, Nine Inch Nails,...
